Starting with personal experience, I can tell you that I have had golf lessons and golf instruction from the worst of them to world class instructors. World class means they charged the most.
I have spent large amount of monies in search of the SECRET to the golf swing. I have paid for videos, instruction manuals, e books, playing lessons, gadget of colors, sizes, and purposes.
Every single thing that I have experienced had some useful tidbit buried in all the BS. It took years for me to figure it out.
The one thing that all of this had in common was:

The reason for this is that most just plain don’t know. I could make a list a mile long that would include all the golf instruction that is just flat out wrong.
How about a couple of examples just for fun.
Has anyone ever told you to just relax? What sporting activity have you ever seen where the participants are ” just relaxing”… boxing? Football? Baseball? Basketball? Bowling? Come one. It is an athletic event. You don’t relax when you are trying to smash the cover off the ball. You are at a heightened level of power and speed.
It is no place for a nap. Relax. What a bunch of crap.

I know, some of you are thinking, jeez this guy is full of it. Everyone knows that you have to take a light grip. Nope… no one that plays at a high level does this. No one.

Oh yeah … then there is the ” keep your head still” thing. This has created more poor weight shifts or reverse weight shift than you will ever imagine.
You have to move your head. Many actually move it back away from the target, but you have to move your head.
What you don’t do is move it past the ball. If you move past the ball you will most assuredly hit from the top.
